What is Moxiecraft?

Moxiecraft is a semi-vanilla Minecraft survival server, also known as an SMP, that runs Paper and tries to always be on the latest version of Minecraft: Java Edition. Semi-vanilla means that it is almost identical to the stock Minecraft experience, but it has some slight alterations.

Moxiecraft was started by Moxieskip and SiOtter as a private survival server in the summer of 2024. Later, in the end of September they installed a couple plugins and opened it to the public. Since then it has been slowly growing in popularity. The server is now run by a small team of 5 admins and a couple of moderators, all doing this in their free time.

The server features an extensive dungeon system, making it very RPG-like. Custom items aren't uncommon in the world, and some even have a decent impact on regular gameplay. One person keeps "joking" about Moxiecraft becoming Wynncraft in a decade, this person being the same one, who is writing this article. Some players prefer not to engage with the dungeons too much, and it is fine, because they are entirely optional, and despite some items impacting the survival experience of their weilders, overall, the dungeons are pretty much separate from the survival aspect of the game.
